Parslet is an iPhone app that turns instructional videos into step-by-step walkthroughs. This policy describes what we collect and why. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we don't sell it, and you can delete everything from inside the app.
You sign in with Sign in with Apple. We receive the identifier Apple issues, your email (or Apple's private relay address), and — if you choose to share it — your name. You then pick a handle and may add a display name and photo; these are shown alongside content you publish.
Videos you upload are stored so we can process and stream them. To turn a video into steps, its audio is transcribed and the transcript is analyzed by automated services acting on our behalf: video streaming by Mux, speech transcription by Deepgram, and step segmentation by OpenAI. These providers process your content to provide the feature and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Videos are private to you unless you publish them.
We store the walkthroughs you save, your progress through them, and — when the feature is enabled — comments you post. We record basic product events (for example, that a parse was submitted or a walkthrough published) in our own database to understand whether the product works; we do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
If the app crashes, a crash report (device model, OS version, stack trace) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. Crash reports are not tied to your content.
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → settings → account). Deletion removes your profile, videos, saves, progress, comments, and photos from our systems.
